James is one of the Cayman Islands’ leading litigation and insolvency lawyers with more than 25 years’ experience in financial services disputes.

Prior to founding the firm with Justin in 2026, James spent two decades in the Cayman Islands with the world’s largest offshore law firm, including as Global Co-Head of its Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice until 2025. In that role, he led multi-jurisdictional teams on some of the most significant and complex matters in the offshore market.

James’ practice spans a wide range of Cayman Islands financial services litigation, with particular expertise in investment fund and private equity disputes, shareholder and public company litigation, as well as insolvency matters, security enforcement, and fraud and asset recovery.

In addition to his contentious practice, James has substantial experience in pre-litigation crisis management and in non-contentious insolvency matters. He regularly serves as a trusted advisor to liquidators and other insolvency practitioners, as well as to funds, fund managers, fund administrators, directors, shareholders and public companies.  He is frequently engaged to provide strategic advice in situations involving sensitive or time‑critical issues.

In addition to his contentious practice, James has substantial experience in pre-litigation crisis management and in non-contentious insolvency matters. He regularly serves as a trusted advisor to liquidators and other insolvency practitioners, as well as to funds, fund managers, fund administrators, directors, shareholders and public companies.  He is frequently engaged to provide strategic advice in situations involving sensitive or time‑critical issues.

James has also played a key role in a number of high-profile financial restructurings, both in contentious and non-contentious settings.

He has appeared extensively before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands as well as before the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. He has also acted as an expert witness on Cayman Islands law in proceeding before the United Stated Federal Courts, including the Southern District of New York, as well as in other international courts and arbitral proceedings.
